UnitedHealth Group purchased PacifiCare in 2006. After reviewing our work,
UHG’s subsidiary UnitedHealthcare asked CleverPear to help develop its
Medicare Part D portal and involved us in a variety of portal projects. The
success of this work led to additional efforts now under way.
Objectives
- Rebrand the PacifiCare website to meet UnitedHealthcare’s guidelines.
- Develop a better, more interactive user experience, including personalized navigation, content and integration across all vendor tools.
- Automate our build, quality-assurance and deployment processes.
Solution highlights
- Developed a vendor library with a secure services-oriented architecture to push dynamic content and navigation to vendor sites.
- Created customized CruiseControl.NET scripts to pull the latest changes, do a clean build, package the build and deploy a build package.
- Created custom administrative tools to allow the client to self-manage the site—including content management for any of the user profiles.
Results
- Project was delivered on time and on budget.
- The solution reused 70 percent of the original architecture saving the client more than $300,000.
- The solution had the capacity to support both UnitedHealthcare and PacifiCare users—a load more than 10 greater than anticipated in the original design.
- UnitedHealthcare extended its maintenance agreement with CleverPear and is working with us to create its next great portal experience.
